According to recent claims from a informant, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, currently serving a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a news release that the prison’s warden was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for Maxwell and her guests.

These meetings reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the warden to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Further perks allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson added.

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as the President's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and called on the president to deny the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” Raskin wrote in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange her with the move or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her lawyers, family or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a reply to the inquiries by the specified date.
