Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
