The January transfer market is always a period of significant rumour and potential major moves. A number of prominent players find themselves connected to moves away from their current teams. Here is a look at some of the top names who could be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the AFCON, this has left the forward available, indications are a significant move is imminent. The 25-year-old possesses a contract with a £65 million release clause applicable for a short window in early January. Latest developments indicate the Premier League champions have emerged as his services. Former interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute move.

Marc Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield falling through. As his contract set to run out in the close season, this represents the London club's last opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their skipper. Numerous elite clubs, including Manchester City and several European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a January departure remains difficult, especially given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales winger has had starting opportunities limited at Tottenham this term. Although being the side's top scorer last season, he has begun just a small number of Premier League matches. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

This Portuguese midfielder could be poised for a return to the Premier League following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Now just twenty-eight, and with his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible bargain. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he is prepared to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

This veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under the manager Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a winter exit seems highly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a potential suitor, but that move now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The prolific England centre-forward has continued finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could enhance his fading hopes of making the England World Cup. The 19-year-old is heavily expected to make a major move this month. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
